Here at Allied Eye, we consider it an honor to join the Susan G. Komen Foundation in the fight to end breast cancer forever. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) and we are pleased to announce several opportunities for you to join us in providing hope and help to those struggling with this disease.

Our commitment to help find a cure for breast cancer is an ongoing mission. However, this year it became personal when our beloved office administrator, Dr. Matzkin’s wife, Susan, was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Through months filled with uncertainty, pain, and a double mastectomy, Susan remained strong, dealing with her challenges with a grace that has inspired all who know her. Thankfully, the same spirited determination she has poured into Allied Eye also powered her on the road to recovery. The Matzkin family is grateful that she is doing well today and remains the heart of our practice.

To honor Susan’s fight, we are doing even more to make an impact on breast cancer this year. Because early detection is an important factor in saving lives, we will be gifting eligible staff members with free mammograms at Chattanooga Imaging East.

We invite our Chattanooga community to contribute to our BCAM fundraising efforts in one or more of the following ways:

  • Get new eyeglasses! Throughout the month of October, Allied Eye will donate $10 of your eyeglasses purchase to the Susan G. Komen foundation.
  • Join members of our staff in walking for the cure! This year, the 2020 Komen Chattanooga MORE THAN PINK Walk is a virtual event. Click here to learn more and register to participate on Saturday, October 24.
  • Help us meet our fundraising goal! We’ve set up a GoFundMe to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation and every dollar makes a real impact against breast cancer. Consider donating in honor of or in memory of a loved one by visiting Allied Eye’s fundraiser here.

Thank you for standing with us in this important pursuit of a cure for breast cancer! If you’d like to schedule a comprehensive eye exam at Allied Eye, please call or text (423) 855-8522. Our team of eye care professionals would be honored to service your eye care needs.
