Dr. Jigna Patel is the new associate optometrist at Allied Eye and is extremely excited to join the practice! Born right here in Chattanooga, she is eager to return home to her roots. Dr. Patel earned a Bachelor of Science from The University of Tennessee in Knoxville. In 2015, she received her Doctorate of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. During her fourth year externships, Dr. Patel gained experience in ocular disease, pediatrics, contact lens, and primary care. While caring for patients at the Veterans Affairs in Daytona Beach, Florida, Dr. Patel had extensive exposure to treatment and management of ocular diseases.

While at SCO, Dr. Patel was heavily involved with many extracurricular organizations, including being elected President of the Student Government Association and serving as a National Liaison to the American Optometric Student Association. She also participated in optometric mission trips to Belize City, Belize and Merida, Mexico to provide free eye care to individuals who may not otherwise receive it. Her strong commitment to community service is evident as she was awarded the Harold Love Outstanding Community Service Award in 2014 by the State of Tennessee. She can be found exploring the trails of Lookout Mountain and spending time with her husband. Dr. Patel is a huge Volunteers fan, so don’t expect to wear UGA or Alabama apparel to her exams without a little friendly banter!

I had both eyes done and I'm very happy I chose the multifocal lenses. I'm a golfer, and this has enabled me to not only see and follow my own golf ball, I can also see to record scores. The procedure itself was remarkably easy. The team that Dr. Matzkin has assembled were fantastic.
